Second pole of the year! |
|
| |
Michael Schumacher did it again. He was too fast (1.33.074) for everybody else at the Malesian track. But sensational is the man on second place: the Australian Mark Webber in his Jaguar (his fastest qually every). Rubens Barrichello took third. Both Renault drivers looked very promising at the first qually. Fernando Alonso and Jarno Trulli were the fastest two. But in the second stint both drivers didn't manage it. Trulli drove a bad lap and didn't came any further than eight and Alonso spon of the track. He will start as last. Montoya took fourth place and was a little faster than the winner of last year Kimi Raikkonen. Sixt was Jenson Button and seventh Ralf Schumacher. |

Practice 1 and 2 |
|
| |
The first practice at the GP of Maleisia was dominated by Schumacher. He was almost one second faster than the rest of the field. His time was 1.34.437. Rubens Barrichello took second time in 1.35.380. The heat was enourmous (36 dregrees Celcius) but the Bridgetone tyres did a great job. The testdriver of BAR, Anthony Davidson, took the third time and proofs that the team still has a very fast car. Williams and McLaren didn't found the right way yet. Ralf Schumacher came in fifth and Montoya eight. McLaren was even worse: Raikonnen was sixth and Coulthard eleventh.
At the second practice the McLarens did a better job. Kimi Raikkonen set the fastest time (1.34.395) and Ralf Schumacher was close behind him as second (1.34.693). Michael Schumacher took fourth time (1.35.094) and Rubens came in as tenth (1.35.373). But ofcourse nothing is sure yet. We will see tomorrow what the teams were aiming at today!

A good first practice day at Sebring |
|

With the sun shining again, the first official day of the Sebring 12 Hours provided teams with two free practice sessions of one hour each. Barron Connor made perfect use of both sessions, with both cars and all six drivers running non-stop in the morning and the afternoon. John Bosch and Mike Hezemans drove car 25 and 26 respectively during the morning to try various set-up changes.

Fire in Maranello |
|
| |
Yesterday night there was a fire in the Ferrari Factory in Maranello. Just after midnight the fire started in the headquarters. The team announced that a shortcut was probably the cause of the fire. The firedepartement had it, luckaly, soon under control. "When the firedepartement arrived the fire already reached the area where we develope our engines. We do have some damage, but nothing that has anything to do with our F1-activities was damaged", said a spokesman of Ferrari.
