Ferrari will be represented at the Techno-Classica 2007 by a stand dedicated entirely to Ferrari Classiche, a specialist division set up in Maranello to provide owners of historic Ferraris with restoration, maintenance, etc.
Ferrari Classiche opened its doors in 2006 in the old factory building.
'The brother can't drive,' said comic Eddie Griffin about himself after crashing an Enzo. It happened at a race track near Los Angeles while Griffin was promoting his upcoming film, 'Redline'. Not funny for him; it's all on tape AND on YouTube!
...this can happen to your car. This is, eh.. was the 550 Maranello of Uday Hussein, son of the late dictator of Iraque. Uday had probably 1200 cars, one of which was a Lamborghini LM002. At the time he bought these cars the Iraqi people were starving. But still... it's a shame of a beautiful, innocent, car from Italia. And... they just could have sold it of course...
The first race of the 2007 season has been won by Kimi Raikkonen in his first race for the team of Ferrari. He made a perfect start and lead the race almost from start to finish. Massa started at the total end of the field, but managed to pass half the field until his first, and only, pitstop. He finished as sixth, just a car lenght behind Fisichella.
Raikkonen brought the total number of victories for Ferrari at 193 in 742 F1 races. It was the Finn's tenth victory.
A quote from Kimi after the race: "A fantastic victory! It is great to be winning again with my new team whom I want to thank for giving me a great car. The race was not as easy as it might have looked from the outside, partly because shortly after the start, the radio failed so it was almost impossible to talk to the pit wall. Fortunately we had prepared well for the race and I knew what I had to do, but there were a few difficult moments."
First race of the season, and first pole! Kimi Raikkonen was fastest of them all. It's the seventh time that a Ferrari driver starts from pole during the Australian GP. For Kimi, it's his twelfth pole of his career. Unfortunately there was a problem for the good driving Felipe Massa in Q2. The gearbox broke down and he has to start from 16th place.
Second place went to Alonso in his McLaren. Nick Heidfeld (BMW) as 3the and, very impressive, fourth: Lewis Hamilton in his debut with McLaren Mercedes. Kubica (BMW) as fifth and last of the front three rows is Fisichella as sixthe in his Renault.
For me (and all the other Dutch/European GP fans) it will be a short night sleep as the race will start at 04.00 in the night. But DO WE LOOK FORWARD TO IT!! YES: F1 2007 has finaly started!!
Ferrari makes a good start in Australia. In the first practice Massa set the second time and had only Alonso in front of him. In the second practice he set the fastest time (1.27.353) in 32 laps. His new teammate, Raikkonen, took second place (1.27.750) in 33 laps. The third time went again to a McLaren, but this time to the rookie: Hamilton! Source and picture: GPUpdate.net
'Ferrari appear to be really strong and they'll be in front at first,' Ecclestone told The Bild newspaper. Let's hope that his prediction for this season; Ferrari and Massa, will come true.
