Victory in Malaysia |
|
| |
Victory for Ferrari and for Raikkonen after the disapointing race last week. Malaysia is defenately more the track for 'the ice-man'. But what happend with Massa? Is the presure (already) to much for him? He had pole and until the first pitstop he was leading the race. The both Ferraris had taken a huge lead to Kubica. But after the first stop Raikkonen was leading the race. On lap 30 it went wrong for Massa. He lost the rear end of his car and stranded in the gravel. For Raikkonen it was after that just 'cruising' to his first win of the season. Kubica was second and Kovalainen was also on the podium as third in his McLaren. Trulli fourth, Hamilton fifth, Heidfeld sixth ahead of Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso taking the last point. |

Dissapointment |
|
| |
The first race of this year has been won by Hamilton. And the red team from Maranello? So strong in the wintertests? ... A minor one point for the, not even finishing, Kimi Raikonnen. For Massa, the start already went terrible. He spun of in the fist corner, hitting the barrier. He had to come in for a new nose. But because the pitlane was closed at that time because of the savetycar situation (there were more incidents on the track) he couldn't refule. So he did that the next lap. Raikkonen had a fantastic start from the 16th place. After one lap he was already 11th. After the restart he was very fast and made it even up to 3rd! But then there was again a savetycar situation (of total 3). When the lights were green, Raikonnen thought he could overtake Kovalainen in his McLaren. Only he braked way to late and ended up in the gravel. Although he did get out, he had to start al over again from place 16. Later in the race Massa had to retire with engine trouble. Raikonnen then made a mistake by driving to far over the edge of the track, and spun. He could, again, proceed, but in the end his engine also broke down and three laps before the end of the race he had to retire too. Only 8 cars finished the race. Barrichello, on the sixth place, was after the race disqualified because he left the pitlane while the light was red. Because of that Raikonnen did get one point. Dissapointment for the Ferrari-team of course, who sent both engines back to the factory for examination. |
